Looks like Tiffany Haddish and Netflix are building quite the relationship. Not only is she starring opposite fellow comedian Ali Wong for the upcoming animated series Tuca & Bertie, but she is also partnering with the streaming giant to produce a new stand-up comedy series.
The new series, Tiffany Haddish Presents: They Ready, will introduce a diverse group of six up-and-coming stand-up comedians doing half-hour specials. And if the title of the show rings a bell, that’s probably because it’s a reference to Haddish’s She Ready! From the Hood to Hollywood, which debuted on Showtime shortly after Haddish starred in the 2017 film Girls Trip.
And this is definitely some hands-on production. Apparently Haddish hand-selected comedians she’s met along the way through her work in the stand-up scene, television and film. Those comics include Chaunté Wayans, April Macie, Flame Monroe, Marlo Williams, Tracey Ashley and Aida Rodriguez.
“I am introducing six of my favorite comedians—in my eyes, they are superstars,” Haddish said. “The epitome of They Ready.”
