10 Sugar-Free Drinks at Dunkin’ Donuts That Are Just as Tasty as Your Usual Order

Maybe you just started keto, or maybe you’re trying to curb your daily sugar intake. Either way, your usual caramel swirl iced latte (with whipped cream, obvi) from Dunkin’ isn’t going to help. Luckily, there are plenty of sugar-free options to take advantage of at the coffee chain. Read on for ten low-sugar and sugar-free drinks at Dunkin’ Donuts, plus answers to a few of your burning questions.

The 10 Best Keto Starbucks Drinks to Order

What Dunkin’ Donuts Flavors Are Sugar-free?

All of the chain’s flavor shots are unsweetened and sugar-free, not to be confused with flavor swirls, which contain sugar. Flavor shots will add about 5 to 20 extra calories to your coffee or tea depending on the size, and they’re available in vanilla, hazelnut, toasted almond, blueberry, raspberry and coconut. Supplement the flavor shot with a zero-calorie sweetener (like Splenda) if your coffee is still too bitter.

Does Dunkin’ Donuts Have Sugar-Free Lattes?

You can totally get a low-sugar latte: Just know that most of the chain’s milk options aren’t sugar-free, so a sugar-free latte is nearly impossible to pull off. If your goal is cutting calories, the coconut milk is your best bet. Dunkin’ uses Silk Unsweetened Coconutmilk, which contains 40 calories and 0 grams of sugar per 8-ounce serving. Dunkin’s oat milk option, Planet Oat Extra Creamy Oatmilk, is the highest in calories at 120 per cup, but boasts only 5 grams of sugar per serving. Skim milk and Dunkin’s almond milk, Vanilla Almond Breeze, are almost the same nutrition wise, each containing about 80 calories and 12 grams of sugar per cup. As far as flavors go, choose a flavor shot instead of a flavor swirl and the only sugar in your beverage will be from the milk.

Is There a Keto Drink at Dunkin’ Donuts?

Yes, but it’s important to remember that all the milk options still contain carbs. Unless you’re getting a coconut milk latte (that option only contains 1 carb per cup), you’re better off topping your coffee or tea with a splash or two of milk rather than ordering a latte, which is mostly milk with only an ounce or two of espresso. Skim milk clocks in at 12 carbs per cup, while almond milk and oat milk follow at 14 and 19 net carbs respectively. You can also ask for cream instead since it’s high in fat and lower in carbs than milk.

Thirsty yet? Here are ten low-sugar and sugar-free drinks to get at Dunkin’. (Note: All the below nutritional information is for medium-sized drinks. For drinks that include milk, we used skim milk to calculate the nutritional information unless otherwise noted.)

1. Coffee, Hot Or Iced

Nutrition facts: 5 calories, 0g fat, 0g carbs, 0g protein, 0g sugar, 0g fiber

When in doubt, black coffee is always your lowest calorie option, whether you have it hot or cold. It contains minimal calories and no sugar, meaning you can afford to spike it with regular or non-dairy milk for only 20 to 30 calories more depending on your cup’s size, plus a sugar-free flavor shot. Unsweetened coconut milk is lowest in both calories and sugar, but keto drinkers can opt for extra fat and protein by asking for a splash of cream instead.

2. Cold Brew

Nutrition facts: 5 calories, 0g fat, 0g carbs, 0g protein, 0g sugar, 0g fiber

Similar to iced coffee, black cold brew contains minimal calories if there’s nothing added to it, but you can spruce it up with milk and flavor shots without racking up the sugar content too. Cold brew is also typically naturally sweeter than iced coffee: The gentle, longer brewing process produces a minimally bitter, silky-smooth final product, so you may find you don’t need to add as much milk or zero-calorie sweetener as you usually do. Even better, cold brew contains more caffeine than iced coffee due to how it’s made.

3. Hot Tea

Nutrition facts: Not available

The hot teas at Dunkin’ have no nutritional significance—as long as they’re unsweetened. The teas are made to order, so be sure to ask for no sugar. (You can also request a lemon wedge for flavor if you’d like or add zero-calorie sweetener or milk of your choice if you don’t like your tea plain.) Choose from Bold Breakfast Black Tea, Chamomile Fields Herbal Infusion, Cool Mint Herbal Infusion, Hibiscus Kiss Herbal Infusion or Harmony Leaf Green Tea.

4. Iced Tea

Nutrition facts: Not available

Just to show how big a difference a few pumps of liquid cane sugar can make, a medium sweetened iced tea contains 230 calories and an astounding 58 grams of sugar. Skip the sweetener and the nutrition stats are just as negligible as hot tea (a medium contains 5 calories, 0 grams of sugar and 1 carb to be exact). Choose from black and green iced teas, then consider adding a spritz of lemon, a splash of milk, zero-calorie sweetener or even a flavor shot (we’re partial to raspberry) to make it more exciting.

5. Skim Milk Latte, Hot Or Iced

Nutrition facts: 100 calories, 0g fat, 15g carbs, 9g protein, 14g sugar, 0g fiber

Ordering a latte with skim milk and a flavor shot instead of whole milk and a flavor swirl saves you a whopping 200+ calories. If you prefer it flavored, add a sugar-free flavor shot. If you’re on keto, you can also ask for heavy cream instead of milk.

6. Non-dairy Latte, Hot Or Iced

Nutrition facts: 50 calories, 4½g fat, 3g carbs, 1g protein, 1g sugar, 0g fiber

Whether you don’t consume dairy or are looking to shave off a few extra calories, the chain’s non-dairy milks can help. A coconut milk latte is lowest in both sugar and calories of the three non-dairy options (see the stats in the above nutrition facts). Almond milk is the second leanest alternative, clocking in at 100 calories and 15 grams of sugar for a medium. But oat milk has the second lowest amount of sugar: A medium oat milk latte contains 130 calories and only 5 grams of sugar.

7. Americano, Hot Or Iced

Nutrition facts: 10 calories, 0g fat, 2g carbs, 0g protein, 0g sugar, 0g fiber

Nutritionally speaking, Americanos are very similar to black coffee. Instead of being brewed like drip java though, they’re made by combining hot water (or cold water if iced) and fresh espresso. You can add flavor shots, zero-calorie sweetener or a splash of milk if you’re a light-and-sweet kind of coffee drinker.

8. Cappuccino, Hot Or Iced

Nutrition facts: 70 calories, 0g fat, 10g carbs, 6g protein, 9g sugar, 0g fiber

Cappuccinos call for the same ingredients as lattes (aka espresso and milk), but the difference is that the milk is steamed longer for a frothier texture. Because the milk is frothed longer, cappuccinos require less milk than lattes when hot—that’s why they’re lower in calories, carbs and sugar despite being made with the same ingredients. Make the bev your own by adding flavor shots or zero-calorie sweetener.

9. Macchiato, Hot Or Iced

Nutrition facts: 70 calories, 0g fat, 10g carbs, 6g protein, 9g sugar, 0g fiber

A traditional macchiato is nothing but espresso and a tiny amount of steamed milk. But in the U.S., it’s typically just an upside-down latte, meaning the espresso is poured on top of the milk instead of the other way around, giving the drink a layered appearance. Its stats are identical to the cappuccino’s, so if you like one, odds are you’ll love the other.

10. Modified Dunkaccino

Nutrition facts (for a regular Dunkaccino): 350 calories, 15g fat, 52g carbs, 3g protein, 35g sugar, 1g fiber

OK, so this coffee-hot cocoa hybrid isn’t exactly low in sugar. But if you’re looking for a treat (or indulge in a hot chocolate or Dunkaccino on the reg), this tweak will save you big time in calories and sugar. Simply ask the barista to fill the cup halfway (or more) with hot black coffee, then to the top with Dunkaccino. Note that the Dunkaccino is premixed, so you can’t choose which milk it’s made with. If you’d like it dairy-free (or are on keto and can’t afford the carbs), you’re better off getting a regular latte and spiking it with your own sugar-free mocha syrup (since Dunkin’ only has a mocha flavor swirl on the menu, not a flavor shot).
