Season 27 of The Bachelor is officially underway.
Today, ABC released a first look at the contestants who will vie for Zach Shallcross’s heart on the next season of The Bachelor, which will premiere on January 23. The network shared the names and photos of 30 single women on Instagram, and the competition looks fierce.
If you recall, Shallcross originally appeared on season 19 of The Bachelorette, which starred Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia. He pursued Rachel and made it to the final three—however, he chose to self-eliminate after their “unauthentic” Fantasy Suite date.
Host Jesse Palmer announced that Shallcross will be the next Bachelor during the After the Final Rose special. At the time, he met five of his 30 contestants: Brooklyn, Brianna, Bailey, Cat and Christina.
Shallcross also revealed that he couldn’t be more thrilled to start his journey. “There’s no words, I’m just taking this in right now,” he said. “I’m obviously really nervous right now, but this is once in a lifetime.”
The California native continued, “I really needed to take some time away and reflect and heal that broken heart. But really what I learned from that experience was that I didn’t change how ready I was. I’m now more ready. That’s almost fuel to the fire.”
Shallcross even shared advice for his future contestants, adding, “Let yourself be true, be open—be open to finding love, then it can really happen. I saw it firsthand.”
