The TV Show I’m Most Excited About This Month Just Dropped on Disney+

As an entertainment editor, there’s no denying my interests lie in (you guessed it) entertainment news. This encompasses a plethora of types of stories including everything from the royal family to the hottest trending action movies on Netflix. However, there’s one genre that I’ve consistently been a fan of for the last 13 years: superhero films and shows.

Yup, I’m the one at the first showing of every Marvel and DC film. After Avengers: Endgame came and went, you could say I was going through something. Luckiy for me, the Marvel universe was far from over. Disney+ has already released a handful of spinoff shows on the platform (Wanda Vision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, to name a few). The lastest to be released? Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, which dropped its first episode on Wednesday.

The new series features the God of Mischief as he steps out of his brother Thor’s shadow and takes place after the events of Endgame. After Loki steals the Tesseract, he travels through time and proceeds to change history, but of course, things don’t go according to plan.

Hiddleston returns as the title character, joined by Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku and Richard E. Grant. Kate Herron directs Loki, and Michael Waldron is head writer.

It’s important to note that I haven’t seen the first episode yet (gasp!), but it’s on my list of things to do after this long work week. And if I’m being completely honest, I’m really just looking forward to seeing Hiddleston on my small screen.

The first season of Loki includes six episodes with episode two arriving on Disney+ on Wednesday, June 16. Then, subsequent new episodes will drop every Wednesday through July.

After months of waiting, I’m happy to officially have summer plans.
