Jennifer Lopez’s latest film is a powerful tribute to mothers everywhere.
Netflix just released the first official trailer for J.Lo’s all-new movie, The Mother, which will premiere on May 12 (aka Mother’s Day).

The story follows a mother (Lopez) who will stop at nothing to protect her daughter (Lucy Paez). However, she’s forced abandon her motherly duties shortly after giving birth.
“You wasted FBI time trying to cut a deal for yourself, and seven agents were killed. This conversation now takes place on our terms,” an agent says. “You and I both know, the only way you protect that child is to disappear.”
The agent adds, “They’ll find you. Both of you.”
Although she obeys orders, she keeps tab on her child from afar. And several years later, she’s forced to step in when someone abducts her daughter.
“They’re using her to get to me,” Lopez says in the clip. “She needs protection right now.”
The trailer concludes with Lopez saying, “I’m a killer, but I’m also a mother. And I will die protecting her.” Chills.

In addition to J.Lo, the film also stars Omari Hardwich, Joseph Fiennes, Paul Raci, Noah Crawford and Yvonne Senat.
Lopez posted the trailer on her personal Instagram account, along with two brand-new character posters. The caption read, “Happy Monday!!! Here are the new posters for my upcoming film THE MOTHER. Only on @Netflix May 12.”
