*Warning: Spoilers ahead*
There’s a lot to unpack after watching the season two finale of The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix. And now that there are rumors swirling about a potential third season, we need to get to the bottom of that cliffhanger.
In the season two finale, Lisa Trammell (Lana Parrilla) is found not guilty in the murder trial of Mitchell Bondurant (Clint Carmichael), thanks to Mickey’s (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) impeccable defense. Despite the positive outcome, it’s clear that Mickey isn’t sure of her innocence by the end of the second season. So, what does this mean for season three?
Well, it appears that Mickey ought to watch his back—especially when it comes to Lisa, who seemingly has more schemes up her sleeve. It all goes back to a theory that is presented at Lorna (Becki Newton) and Cisco’s (Angus Sampson) wedding. Lorna explains that she suspects Lisa is responsible for the part one cliffhanger, when Alex Grant (Michael A. Goorjian) attacks Mickey.
And if Lisa is connected to Grant, then she’s also connected to the mob. So, even if she didn’t commit Bondurant’s murder herself, it seems highly likely that she is very much involved like a puppet master.
Perhaps it was Lisa’s idea to murder Bondurant, and she hired Grant and Walter Kim (Keong Sim) to do her dirty work. That would explain why she’s found not guilty—because there’s no physical evidence to put her at the scene of the crime. It would also explain why Mickey dug into Lisa’s past and discovered that she most likely killed her husband, Jeff, and got away with it. Perhaps he knows that Lisa’s history with homicide is nothing new.
Based on the cliffhanger, we know that season three is going to explore the tragic murder of Glory Days. But if the season two finale tells us anything, it’s that Lisa isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
