New ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 2 Trailer Introduces Us to ‘Led Tasso’ (Yes, You Read That Right)

Prepare for loads of funny banter, because Ted Lasso is returning for season two.

Apple TV+ just released the first official trailer for the brand-new episodes, which pick up right where we left off in the previous installment. (Warning: If you haven’t watched the first season, proceed with caution due to spoilers.)

The trailer re-introduces viewers to the main character: Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis), an overly enthusiastic American college football coach. Back in season one, he accepted an offer to lead AFC Richmond, a terrible mediocre Premier League soccer team in the U.K.

In season two, AFC Richmond is returning to the field after a devastating loss in the season one finale. (You know, when the team lost its final game against Manchester City.) Despite their 40-year losing streak, Ted is determined to rewrite their underdog story.

“I’ve never been embarrassed about having streaks in my drawers,” he says in the clip. “It’s just all a part of growing up.”

Of course, Ted Lasso season two is filled with priceless jokes (and Sleepless in Seattle references). “I believe in communism. Rom-communism, that is,” he tells the team. “If Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan can go through some heartfelt struggles and still end up happy, then so can we.”

Other cast members include Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca), Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), Jeremy Swift (Higgins), Juno Temple (Keeley), Brett Goldstein (Roy), Phil Dunster (Jamie) and Nick Mohammed (Nathan). Per The Hollywood Reporter, Sarah Niles (Sharon) is joining the cast for season two.

Ted Lasso season two will consist of 12 brand-new episodes. It will debut on July 23, followed by weekly installments exclusively on Apple TV+.
