Justin Timberlake Has a New Movie on Apple TV+ (& It’s Already Generating a Ton of Buzz)

Justin Timberlake’s latest project, a movie on Apple TV+, officially dropped four days ago. Since then, not only have thousands of people streamed the drama, but its premiere also led to one of the platform's “most-watched” weekends to date, with a viewership increase of 33 percent, according to Variety.

Called Palmer, the film tells the story of a newly-released convict who returns to his small Louisiana hometown and strikes up an unlikely friendship with a young boy. Directed by Fisher Stevens, the flick has already raked in some impressive reviews and a whopping 75 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Not to mention, Deadline even called Timberlake’s performance “his best yet.”

The film's official synopsis reads, “After 12 years in prison, former high school football star Eddie Palmer (Timberlake) returns home to put his life back together—and forms an unlikely bond with Sam, an outcast boy from a troubled home. But Eddie’s past threatens to ruin his new life and family.” 

In addition to Timberlake, Palmer also stars Ryder Allen, Alisha Wainwright (Shadowhunters), Juno Temple (Atonement), June Squibb (In & Out) and Lance E. Nichols (Queen of the South). 

After the successful release, Apple revealed that Palmer was the platform’s second-biggest film debut and the third-highest debut of any title.

With stats that impressive, we’ll definitely give this one a shot. And we’ll be sure to have tissues at the ready.
