While the short clip doesn't tease any central plot points (clever move, Peele), the 31-second trailer does show still shots of Kaluuya, Yeun and Palmer looking up at the sky with frightened expressions on their faces. Aside from the snippets, footage from Peele’s previous films, Get Out and Us, flash across the screen.
Back in July, the horror director unveiled the first official poster for the new flick. The poster shows a secluded, small town and a dark, ominous cloud (attached to a kite string) floating in the navy blue sky.
Kaluuya previously worked with Peele on the filmmaker's directorial debut, Get Out. The movie was a massive success, grossing $255 million worldwide. At the 90th Academy Awards, Peele won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. He was also nominated for Best Picture and Best Director, while Kaluuya was nominated for Best Actor.
Peele’s second movie, Us, achieved just as much success. The movie earned $255 million worldwide at the box office (with a budget of $20 million).
Horror fans, mark your calendars because Nope is set to hit theaters on July 22, 2022.
