‘How I Met Your Father’ Is Returning for Season 2 on Hulu with a Whopping 20 Episodes

Looks like we’ll be seeing Sophie and her friends a lot more in the future.

Hulu just announced that the reboot series, How I Met Your Father, has been renewed for a second season. The next installment will return with 20 episodes, which is a high number for the streaming service.

Written by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, How I Met Your Father centers around an older Sophie (played by Kim Cattrall) telling her children the story of how she met their father. We are then transported to the year 2021, where we see a younger Sophie (Hilary Duff) searching for love in the Big Apple.

Sophie is joined by her close-knit group of friends, Jesse (Chris Lowell), Valentina (Francia Raisa), Charlie (Tom Ainsley), Ellen (Tien Tran) and Sid (Suraj Sharma), as they all try to navigate love and relationships in their 20s.

After the renewal announcement, the Head of Scripted Content at Hulu Originals, Jordan Helman, released a statement that read, “Isaac [Aptaker] and Elizabeth [Berger]’s inspired vision for How I Met Your Father has proven to be true appointment viewing that fans cannot get enough of week to week.”

He continued, “The lives of these characters, as portrayed by the immensely talented cast led by Hilary Duff, are just starting to unfold and we’re thrilled to bring more of this group’s journey to our viewers with a supersized second season.”

Even Duff posted on Instagram to celebrate the exciting news. The 34-year-old actress posted a snapshot of the HIMYF cast sitting in front of a hot dog stand. In the caption, she wrote, “HAPPY NEWS! Surprise! You'll be seeing more great chapters in this love story because #HIMYF has been renewed for Season 2!”

This news calls for a celebration at Pemberton's.
