Phoebe Dynevor (AKA Daphne Bridgerton), 28, and Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story), 33, star in the new film Fair Play, which got a limited release in theaters this past September. On October 6, the drama was uploaded to Netflix, and it quickly moved into the top spot on the site's list of most-watched movies.
New Steamy Thriller ‘Fair Play’ (Starring ‘Bridgerton’ Actress Phoebe Dynevor) Just Hit #1 on Netflix
Not your typical workplace relationship
In the film, Dynevor plays Emily Meyers, an analyst at a hedge fund, who strikes up a secret office romance with her coworker, Luke Edmunds (Ehrenreich). As the two prepare to get married, their relationship suddenly takes a turn when one of their bosses gets fired and Emily is chosen for a promotion over Luke. While Luke is initially happy for her, his resentment grows, leading to tension and bitterness between them.
The film currently has an 87 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, with a consensus that reads: “With assured style that's at times reminiscent of the best ’90s nail-biting thrillers, Fair Play juxtaposes premarital disharmony with greed and gender politics in the cutthroat finance world.”
This is one of Dynevor’s first major roles following her internationally-recognized performance in Bridgerton, and it's quite a different part from the Regency-era character.
In addition to its two main stars, Fair Play also features Eddie Marsan (Ray Donovan), Rich Sommer (Mad Men), Sebastian de Souza (The Great), Geraldine Somerville (Harry Potter film series) and Patrick Fischler (Lost).
The suspenseful flick was written and directed by Chloe Domont, who makes her feature directorial debut.
Well, we're officially moving this to the top of our must-watch list.
