Everything We Know About Disney’s ‘Enchanted’ Sequel (Including Amy Adams’s Return)

Disney is giving Giselle (Amy Adams) one more chance to find her happily ever after.

The studio just announced that it’s developing an all-new Enchanted sequel, which will pick up right where we left off in the first movie. In honor of the exciting news, we compiled a list of burning questions that ought to be addressed. For example, when will the Enchanted sequel premiere? And will it feature the return of James Marsden and Patrick Dempsey? *Crosses fingers*

Here’s what we know.

1. What is the Enchanted sequel about?

The first movie told the story of Giselle, a princess-in-waiting who experiences culture shock when she leaves the cartoon world of Andalasia and visits New York City for the first time. Disney hasn’t released very many details about the Enchanted sequel, but we expect it to further explore Giselle’s love triangle with Prince Edward (Marsden) and Robert (Dempsey). (ICYMI: The first movie concluded with the princess choosing—spoiler alert!—Robert.)

2. When will it premiere?

Unfortunately, Disney hasn’t released an official premiere date for the Enchanted sequel. However, the movie is expected to begin production in 2021, so we predict it’ll debut sometime in 2022.

3. Who will star in the Enchanted sequel?

In December 2020, Disney confirmed that Adams will reprise her 2007 role (Giselle). The studio announced the exciting news on Twitter, writing, “Disenchanted, a sequel to the hit film Enchanted, will stream exclusively on @DisneyPlus. Amy Adams returns for more fantastical fun as Giselle!”

No other casting details have been announced, though we hope to see the return of Marsden, Dempsey, Idina Menzel (Nancy) and—dare we say—Susan Sarandon (Queen Narissa). Hey, anything is possible in the magical world of Andalasia.
