This Action Heist Drama Is the #1 Movie on Netflix & Critics Absolutely Love It

Calling all Netflix subscribers! There's a brand-new title topping the streaming platform's most-watched movies list.

Introducing Cut Throat City, the action heist drama that critics can't quit raving about. The 2020 film—which already holds an approval rating of 72 percent on Rotten Tomatoes—is currently the number one movie on Netflix. (It surpassed popular titles like Outside the Wire, Homefront and We Can Be Heroes.)

Set in New Orleans during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the movie follows Blink, Miracle, Andre and Junior, four close friends who are struggling to make it in a predominantly poor neighborhood. Feeling desperate, the four men decide to team up with a local crime lord and pull off the ultimate heist.

Cut Throat City features a star-studded cast, including Shameik Moore as Blink, Demetrius Shipp Jr. as Miracle, T.I. as Lorenzo Bass, Terrence Howard as The Saint, Ethan Hawke as Jackson Symms, Wesley Snipes as Lawrence, Denzel Whitaker as Andre and Keean Johnson as Junior.

The movie was directed by Robert Fitzgerald Diggs (known as RZA) and written by Paul Cuschieri. The film was also produced by William Clevinger, Sean Lydiard, Elliott Michael Smith, Michael Mendelsohn and Kyle Tekiela.

Critics have praised the flick for its compelling plot and spot-on social commentary. Noel Murray from Los Angeles Times calls it a "more thoughtful and personal film, concerned with how systemic racism—and zoning ordinances—can kill more people than a gun." Meanwhile, critic Matt Zoller Seitz refers to the film as a "nonstop conversation with movie history, American history and itself."

Sounds like a must-watch to us.
