Season 16, episode nine of The Bachelorette aired on ABC tonight, and it was a doozy for Tayshia Adams. If you don’t have time to watch all two hours of the drawn-out drama (or simply need a refresher), keep reading for the ten best moments from tonight’s episode of The Bachelorette.
Bennett was extremely confident about getting the rose on the surprise two-on-one date, but that wasn’t the case. After hearing the story behind the gift, Adams turned to Bennett and said, “I’m sorry, but I can’t give you this rose. Can I walk you out?”
When Adams returned, Noah couldn’t help but flash her a big smile. She immediately said, “That wasn’t a victory for you, by any means.” To top it off, she revealed that she couldn’t give him the rose (at least not yet).
In an attempt to raise Adams’s spirits, Riley presented her with a cake and toasted to their anniversary. (Because we’re apparently celebrating one-week milestones at this point.)
At the rose ceremony, Adams handed out roses to everyone but Demar, Ed and Spencer, bringing her total count to seven contestants. Dun dun dunnn.
After the rose ceremony, guest host JoJo Fletcher warned the contestants about next week’s milestone: the hometown dates. This prompted Zac to break down in happy tears at the thought of introducing Adams to his family. Awww.
During his one-on-one date with Adams, Ben took off his pants to retrieve a clue in the fountain. Although we were initially turned off by the nudity-driven group dates this season, this is a whole different story. (Bonus points for getting candid about his past.)
Yes, you read that right. Adams invited Zac, Brendan, Ivan, Noah and Riley on the group date, where they underwent a lie detector test. Things took an awkward turn when Zac came clean about his past infidelity, forcing Adams to get to the bottom of it.
During the group date after-party, Riley explained why he felt so uncomfortable during the lie detector test. He revealed that he was named “Dwayne” after his father, who raised him. Although he didn’t have a good relationship with his mom, he became a new person when he legally changed his name to Riley.
On the group date, Adams had meaningful conversations with each the men but refused to give out the rose, claiming she wasn’t confident in who deserved it more.
The episode concluded with Bennett returning after being sent home earlier in the episode. He apologized for his behavior before dropping the L-bomb. Right on cue, he asked for a second chance.
Will Adams comply? Well, since the preview for next week gave it away…yes. Yes, she will.
The Bachelorette returns to ABC next Monday, December 14, for the Men Tell All, followed by another episode on Tuesday.
