As I've gotten older, I have come to realize the importance of moisturizing my body from head to toe. I have always relied on a regular body lotion for dry skin, but recently realized my go-to wasn't cutting it when it came to my feet. Not get to TMI here (though I suspect that boat sailed when I told you dear readers about my vajacial), but my feet get super dry. If I don't tend to them frequently, I can suffer from skin cracks and rough heels.

Fortunately for me, I recently interviewed Olympian Gabby Douglas who shared a few of her favorite products from her partnership with Dr. Scholl's, including the ones that have helped her prep for her return to gymnastics and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

That's right—the 2012 Olympic all-around champion is planning her comeback. "It's been a journey, but I feel amazing," she told me about coming out of her eight-year hiatus. "I've been at the gym, getting stronger and polishing up detailing at this point. I'm honestly very excited to get back out there, feel the energy of the crowd and do what I love. I love gymnastics and challenging myself."

One particular product Douglas mentioned that intrigued me was the Dr. Scholl's Ultra-Hydrating Foot Cream. The gymnast mentioned how it hydrates her feet, especially since she relies on chalk all day in practice. I decided to see if it could soothe my own feet (hey, if it's good enough for an Olympian then it's good enough for me, right?). Spoiler alert: It has definitely saved me trips to the nail salon and has become part of my footcare regimen now.

What I Like

  • moisturizing
  • soothing scent
  • absorbs quickly

What I Don't Like

  • small bottle

Dr. Scholl's

When I tried the foot cream for the first time I was expecting it to be super thick and hard to rub into the skin. It was actually the complete opposite, as the creamy texture spread nicely along my feet. I appreciate not having to spend too much time apply the product as it instantly absorbed into the skin.

I also notice that a little goes a long way. The downside is the bottle is only 3.5 ounces, so it's super small. However, since I only need about a dime-size amount (or less), the foot cream can last me for quite a while. Plus, it's travel-friendly so I plan on taking it with me on my next vacay.

But how does it perform? Truthfully, my heels have never felt so soft and smooth, thanks to its key ingredient, urea, a humectant known to target dryness and treat rough/scaling skin. The formula also has Epsom salt, lactic acid and vitamin E. The foot cream promises intense hydration and I'm here to tell ya the claims are legit. With continued use, it works to heal my cracked skin and prevent dryness or irritation.

The scent also surprised me (in a good way). It's not overpowering and smells super soothing. I notice hints of peppermint, lavender and eucalyptus as I apply it on my feet—essential oils that are known to soothe irritation and inflammation.

The Bottom Line

As I continue to apply the foot cream morning and night, I've truly noticed a difference in my feet. They're no longer cracked or super dry. The ultimate test will be when I implement the product in the winter (aka a dry girlies worst time of the year), but until then I'm glad I upgraded my footcare. I'm not in the running to win any medals anytime soon, but Douglas definitely found a winner with this one.
