Enter the microfiber towel: Made with super absorbent fibers that sop up excess water without roughing up your strands, so you get drier, smoother hair fast. Here, our five favorites for every hair type and budget.

microfiber towel ed pick

Editors’ Pick: Aquis Original Long Hair Towel

The Facts:

  • Smooth microfiber texture is ideal for thick or coarse hair
  • 19 x 44 inches
  • Ultra-lightweight

This was our first foray into microfiber towels and we haven’t looked back since. It’s large enough to accommodate our thick strands but doesn’t weigh down our heads when wrapped up on top. Jenny, PureWow’s beauty director, swears by hers. She says, “This towel has been an absolute game changer for my daily routine. I have the type of hair that takes hours to fully dry and elicits comments from stylists about how it’s ‘a workout for their arms’ when they’re blowing it out. Now I hop out of the shower, twist my still-wet hair up into the towel and move onto my makeup. By the time I’m done with that (max 10 minutes later), I unravel the towel and my hair is more than half-way dry without ever lifting a blow dryer. I’d easily put this in my top five most used products,” she says.

microfiber best val

Best Value: Duomishu 2 Pack Hair Towel Wrap Turban

The Facts:

  • Plush, microfiber material
  • 25 5/8 x 9 7/8 inches
  • Has an elastic loop and button in the back for easy securing

How annoying is it when you wrap your hair up in a towel only to have it slide off your head the minute you step outside the bathroom? This plush microfiber turban has an elastic loop and button stitched in so you can easily secure your strands in place and go about your life (i.e., drink a glass of wine, read a book, prep some dinner) while your hair dries. And at two towels just under ten bucks, you can always have one at the ready while the other is in the wash.

microfiber underdog

Underdog: Diva Darling Microfiber Hair Towel

The Facts:

  • Made from a plush, thick microfiber
  • 19 x 39 inches
  • Comes in pink and white

Admittedly, we judged a book by its cover—or in this case, a microfiber towel by its name. However, we were pleasantly surprised by how plush it felt. In fact, it’s probably the fluffiest towel of the bunch and equally as absorbent at half the cost. The only drawback we could find is that some people found it to be on the smaller side (which is challenging for people with larger heads or longer hair, but excellent for smaller domes and kids).

microfiber splurge

Splurge-worthy: Aquis Original Lisse Body Towel

The Facts:

  • Made from a finely-woven microfiber with a soft, crepe-y texture
  • 29 x 55 inches
  • Gentle on hair and skin

For a full body dry (or if you have very long hair), this XL towel is the way to go. Despite its large size, it’s surprisingly lightweight and easy to pack. (One editor even brings it with her to the gym.) Made from finely-woven microfibers that don’t pill or shed in the wash, it soaks up any water from the surface of your skin as soon as it touches it. It’s basically the Shamwow of bathing towels.

microfiber runner up

Runner Up: Duracomfort Essentials Super Absorbent Anti-frizz Microfiber Hair Towel

The Facts:

  • Highly absorbent
  • 41 x 19 inches
  • Cuts down on frizz

A cult favorite for many curly-haired folks, this microfiber towel is made from a blend of highly-absorbent polyester and polyamide fibers. Fans praise its moisture-wicking prowess and swear by how much better it makes their curls and waves dry—with or without heat. Speaking of heat, it’s also a much gentler way to handle bleached or processed strands without causing any undue breakage.
