Your Weekly Horoscopes: September 13 to 19, 2020

It’s the end of Virgo season! This week provides a beautiful opportunity for us to shed some bad habits and commit to routines that align with our goals. The sun connects with Pluto—planet of rebirth—on Monday the 14th unlocking mysteries and inspiring us to tap into our unexpressed powers. (Shall we ditch the scrolling before bed once and for all?) Then on Tuesday the 15th, sweet Venus squares off with radical Uranus, which brings a shakeup to our love lives or our aesthetic choices. (So, yes, buy those Crocs and wear them to meet your Hinge date for a bottle of wine in the park.)

The highlight of the week is a new moon in Virgo on Thursday the 17th, which comes with solid support from disciplined Saturn. New moons are about setting intentions and, though Virgos are usually focused on finding solutions for everyone else, this lunation lets us solve our own problems. Communication planet Mercury squares off with expansive Jupiter on the same day giving us tons of ideas and even more places to put our energy. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. We can make progress if we, like practical, level-headed Virgos, make a plan.

(Horoscopes follow for each sign. If you know your rising sign, reading for that will provide further insight.)

This week’s new moon on the 17th is in your sign, and it’s here to remind you that you deserve lots of self-care. What you’re working on is creating a better world for both yourself and for others. So take a pause and relax with all of your favorite things. Though you may also be bursting at the seams with exciting creative ideas, stay the course before starting anything completely new. If you still want to paint the apartment in October, you can do it then. Look at the big picture without worrying about the nitty-gritty details.

This week’s mantra: Everything’s in its right place.

Your gut is telling you to go into hiding—or at least to log off of Twitter—so follow the impulse. The new moon on the 17th falls in your unconscious sector, so it’s OK to float away on one of your dreams. It has been so difficult for you to find a safe space over the last few years: your ideal home, a calm family life or just a comfortable bed spread. You won’t be able to imagine what you really want until you stop inserting yourself into everyone else’s dilemmas. Step away from the screen.

This week’s mantra: There’s freedom in silence.

An exciting happening in your professional or romantic life—like an unexpected job offer or a declaration of affection from your co-worker crush—on the 15th might have your nervous system in overdrive, but try not to let it consume you. The story is still developing so be patient as it unfolds. Your community is a resource. Reach out to those who have your back. Speaking of, the new moon on the 17th is the time to clarify what you need from your friendships. Perhaps it’s time to leave the group chat that always stresses you out.

This week’s mantra: Let go of what overwhelms you.

8 sagittarius

You’ve been feeling torn this month between family responsibilities and getting ahead at work. This week’s new moon on the 17th comes with assurance that you can do it all! Your apartment renovation project comes in way under budget and even if you haven’t gotten that deserved raise yet, a compliment from your boss keeps you feeling optimistic. You’re still laying the groundwork for more stability in the future. Stay patient until early next year when abundance flows more easily your way.

This week’s mantra: Appreciate every small win.

This week’s new moon on the 17th is an occasion to make a detailed plan for your imagined future and get lost in your hopes and dreams. (If your gut has been telling you that you need a new bullet journal then the answer is yes!). Light a candle and cast a love spell! Set an intention during your Zoom yoga class! Though your work can distract you from all the other things that make you feel restricted or less than, lean into the big picture rather than a need for immediate validation.

This week’s mantra: Put it out there!

10 aquarius

If you’re feeling extra anxious this week, whether it’s a lingering grudge or an annoying obligation, remember that everything in life has a power dynamic and power isn’t necessarily the problem. It’s how the power is used. The new moon on the 17th is a time to take the loss and let go of what’s out of your control. If it’s an obligation causing you grief, hand off the responsibility to someone else. Despite all these heavy endings, an unexpected romantic prospect on or around the 15th could put a smile back on your face.

This week’s mantra: Walk away from what isn’t yours.

Who can you ask for help? This week’s new moon in Virgo on the 17th is a chance for you to shed those tired beliefs about relationships. You know who has your back; so instead of rushing to everyone’s aid, try letting someone meet you halfway for once. It’s not your job to solve every problem—maybe it’s your sister’s turn to plan the joint birthday party for your nephew and your dad! You deserve people who show up for you just as much as you show up for them.

This week’s mantra: That’s someone else’s job!

12 aries

Let yourself off the hook this week, dear Aries. Try to pause and focus only on the things that must be done. The new moon on the 17th is the perfect time to make an event of tidying up the home office, freshening up your supplies or dry cleaning your blazer before your next Zoom with the fancy clients. Though you’re still unsure about the future, and your friends are giving you enough career advice to fill a self-help book, focus on what you can control rather than what’s next.

This week’s mantra: It’s the little things that matter.

1 taurus

Romance is in the air for you this week, and the new moon on the 17th is an ideal time to shed tired beliefs about who you do and don’t “deserve” to date or love. You’re never going to be satisfied if you keep going after people who don’t match your ambition. In fact, you might be surprised by who you attract (and are attracted to!) when you’re in touch with your true needs. On the 15th, you have the best chance for a mind-blowing night out (safely, of course) so schedule a date! Even if it’s with yourself.

This week’s mantra: Why not go for the best?

2 gemini

Though your social calendar might be filling up at record speed, take this week to recharge and rejuvenate at home after last week’s chaos and craziness. If you can, stay far away from even Zoom or FaceTime. You’re so tempted to plan one last beach trip or park gathering while the weather is nice, but try to keep things simple instead. Spend the new moon on the 17th without any urgent responsibilities. Remember: You don’t owe anyone a party, and it’s not worth any future resentment to go ahead with the plan.

This week’s mantra: The best party is a party of one.

3 cancer

Your energy is low this week, dear moonchild. So, as much as you might feel it’s necessary to power through work, stick up to your boss or revise your five-year career plan (again), why not just take a walk instead? Why not get in the car and take a drive with the windows open or the top down? Breathe. The new moon on the 17th allows you to let go of some fake business-related relationships and focus on your real friends instead. Get back in touch with someone who always makes you smile.

This week’s mantra: Who needs fake friends?

4 leo

It’s time to build the abundance you deserve, Leo. Though the general vibe is calm and restorative, you are likely feeling extra creative and inspired especially around work or your public image. At the new moon on the 17th, you can finally release some long-held notions about how you “deserve” to make money. It’s time to start putting yourself out there in a more aligned way. If you’ve been considering starting your own business, switching to freelance or picking up another side hustle, now’s the time. Don’t hold yourself back.

This week’s mantra: First, you have to believe in yourself.
