Your January 2020 Horoscopes

Happy New Year! 2020 is coming in hot (and heavy)! At the top of the month, we have not only the sun but also Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto and the South Node (our cosmic garbage disposal) in dutiful Capricorn. With all this focus on our most ambitious sign, tension is high. Are we living up to our potential?

On the 10th, there’s a brief antidote to all the Big Capricorn Energy: a lunar eclipse—or supercharged full moon—in the nurturing sign of Cancer. This is an echo of a solar eclipse from July 2, 2019. What possibilities opened up last summer? How can we continue to grow?

The climax of all the Capricorn drama comes on the 12th as disciplined Saturn meets transformative Pluto in the sky. An extremely rare cosmic occurrence (the last conjunction of these two planets was in 1982!), this is cosmic ground zero on both a personal and societal level. If we let go of what isn’t worth saving, we realize that what remains is gold.

The sun moves into Aquarius on the 20th (happy birthday to our Aquarius babes!), bringing us some future-oriented sweet relief. The new moon in Aquarius on the 24th is all about innovation and knowing what’s best for the collective. Now’s the time to get involved.

(Horoscopes follow for each sign. If you know your rising sign, reading for that will provide further insight.)

Who do you see when you look in the mirror? A pileup of planets is in your sign at the top of the month. And despite the sun and Jupiter bringing recognition and optimism, the influence of tough Saturn, life-changing Pluto and destabilizing Mercury has you in the throes of self-criticism. You’re feeling lost at sea. The 10th through 13th are particularly melancholy days, so be kind to yourself.

On the 10th, the lunar eclipse in Cancer opens up a can of worms with your special someone. Whether your boyfriend proposes out of the blue or your creative partner announces her grandma is going to be an angel investor for your next project, the future has arrived. Let this turn of events get you out of your funk and focused on what’s next.

As the sun enters Aquarius on the 20th, money becomes your main concern. How can you work less and earn more? What is really valuable to you? At the new moon on the 24th, sit down and get serious about your budget. Don’t just make ends meet! The real goal is abundance and prosperity.
