The game aired on Animal Planet, where dogs of every size and breed ran around to "score" touchdowns using any toy they could get their mouth on. About 42 rescue puppies competed, including dogs from outside of the United States.
And thanks to the water bowl cam, we had a closeup of the players in action as they made their way through the dog-friendly football field.
And while everyone was also anticipating the Super Bowl halftime show with Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, Puppy Bowl fans got to enjoy the Kitty Halftime Show with star performers Jenni-Purr Lopez and CAT-ira instead. (And yes, they were purrty awesome. Sorry.)
The 16-year-old event encourages people to adopt these furry pals and give them a forever home. According to Animal Planet’s site, 100 percent of the puppies and kitties shown are adopted into loving families, so everyone’s really a winner.
Congrats to both teams (and Most Valuable Pup Gina) on a great game.
