Here’s Why Tom Holland Wasn’t Given the ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Script

Just because Tom Holland stars in Avengers: Endgame doesn’t mean they trust him with spoilers. In fact, one of the filmmakers just revealed that the 22-year-old actor’s loose lips forced them to keep him out of the loop entirely.

Joe Russo—who co-directed the movie with his brother, Anthony—recently attended a launch party for the Marvel movie’s Indian anthem. During the event, the director discussed Holland, who plays Spider-Man, and admitted that they purposely didn’t give him the full script.

“Yeah, Tom Holland does not get the script,” he said, according to IndieWire. “Tom Holland gets his lines and that’s it.”

Russo went on to say that Holland’s detachment spanned far beyond the dialogue, adding, “He doesn’t even know who he’s acting opposite of. We’ll just—we use, like, very vague terms to describe to him what is happening in the scene, because he has a very difficult time keeping his mouth shut.”

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about Holland’s, er, problem. Last year, the 22-year-old actor low-key spoiled the ending to Avengers: Infinity War during a special screening. Thinking the audience had already seen the film, he walked onstage and said, “Don’t worry, I’m still alive!”

Shortly after, Holland discussed the aftermath at Ace Comic Con in Phoenix. “I’m like, ‘OK, who am I fighting?’ And they were like, ‘Well, we can’t tell you because it’s a secret.’ I’m like, ‘OK, so what does he look like?’ And they’re like, ‘Well, we can’t tell you because that would give it away,’” he said. “I’ve gotten used to it now.”

Note to self: Holland can’t be trusted.
