The ‘This Is Us’ Season 4, Episode 3 Teaser Hints a Fan Theory Could Come True

*Warning: Spoilers ahead*

This Is Us season four, episode two brought a handful of surprises (Tess’s haircut! Kate’s breakdown! Kevin’s visit to Uncle Nicky!). But, judging from the episode three teaser, there are plenty more jaw-dropping moments on the horizon.

The new trailer, which was released after last night’s episode, promises that the “truth comes out.” We just can’t be sure whose truth the This Is Us powers that be are referencing.

We see young Randall (Lonnie Chavis) meeting a new African American teacher at his school. He’s overjoyed, but tries to play it cool.

Then, we see a much-anticipated meeting take place. Kevin (Justin Hartley) and new character Cassidy (Jennifer Morrison) finally meet. Kevin appears to be sitting with her young son at the VA. When Cassidy walks in, he reveals she’s not what he expected when her son said she was a war veteran. She dishes it back and says he’s not what she expected when her son said he had a new friend.

Although we don’t really see sparks fly, there is a theory that Cassidy and Kevin will eventually get together. As you may remember from the season three finale, Kevin goes on to have a son who looks a bit like a combination of himself and Cassidy. Of course, there are several other blonde front-runners in Kevin’s purview (Madison and his on and off again love, Sophie), but Cassidy seems like a nice fit. And, since they know each other now, there’s an actual chance of this happening.

On the other hand, there’s also a theory that she’s Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) or Nicky’s (Griffin Dunne) daughter, so that complicates things.

Meanwhile, Malik (Asante Blackk) asks Deja (Lyric Ross) if she’s heard anything about him at school. Presumably, he’s referencing the fact that he has a child. But, if one fan theory is right, it could be something else entirely and Deja could eventually have a child with him. Personally, we’re a little skeptical about this one.

Last but not least, Kate (Chrissy Metz) finally sees Toby’s (Chris Sullivan) body. He’s been working out secretly to cope with the stress of baby Jack’s blindness and Kate’s return to eating. She seems absolutely shocked and, honestly, not very positive.

More will be revealed when This Is Us season four, episode three airs next Tuesday, October 8, at 9 p.m. PT/ET.
