‘This Is Us’ Star Mandy Moore Knows Rebecca’s Fate—but She Doesn’t Think We’ll Like It

Like her This Is Us character, Rebecca, Mandy Moore is well versed in all things Pearson family. But there’s one piece of intel she’s not sure Rebecca fans are ready for. 

The 34-year-old newly married actress revealed during an interview with PopSugar that she knows what Rebecca’s fate is in the series, but she’s not quite sure we’re ready for it.

But rest assured, Rebecca stans. Moore says the end of her character’s story line is at least real. “In typical This Is Us fashion, it is true to life. But it costs a lot,” she explained. “It’s going to be a lot for people to digest emotionally, but it’s real.”

Since the series is lauded for its ability to so perfectly capture the many trials and tribulations of everyday life, that’s not necessarily a surprise. But the question remains: When will Rebecca leave us?

Moore didn’t drop that spoiler, but she did explain that creator Dan Fogelman, showrunners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger and NBC are in the process of ironing out all the details.

“I think they’re just trying to figure out at this point—I hope I’m not speaking out of turn—but what I’ve heard is they’re just figuring out how many more seasons are going to pick up and I think they’re going to announce it all at one time,” she said.

She also kinda sorta intoned that the series might come to an end after five or six seasons, saying, “We’ve been told pretty much what happens next season and we know how the show ends, so it’s just whether or not it’s five or six seasons is what they’re deciding on right now.”
