Another weekend, another awards show red carpet. At least that’s how Mandy Moore’s social calendar goes.
This past Sunday at the 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards, the 34-year-old This Is Us star shook up her hair routine and opted for a sleek and chic low ponytail festooned with a tiny pearl.
But how did Moore and her celebrity hairstylist Ashley Streicher achieve such a beautifully coiffed pony without (seemingly) pounds or gel or an entire bottle of hair spray? Luckily, Streicher shared a step-by-step tutorial on how to get Mandy’s low-key but glam look on Instagram, and the key to the hairdo is only $13.
Streicher started by brushing out Moore’s thick chocolate brown hair with the Tangle Teezer brush ($13). The Tangle Teezer is celebrated for its ability to detangle without the breakage and pain of a typical brush or comb. It also eliminates cuticle damage and is specifically designed for wet curly or textured hair thanks to its longer, stronger bristles that easily flow through knots and rope-thick locks. Also, it’s pretty.
Once Moore’s hair was properly brushed out, Streicher dried it, secured it into a low pony and hid the rubber band by wrapping a side section of Moore’s ponytail around the elastic.
Next, she finished up the look by creating big subtle waves with what appears to be the T3 BodyWaver 1.75-inch styling iron ($129) and inserted a pearl pin into her pony.
Ultimately, Moore ended up with a look that totally vibed with her black off-the-shoulder Jason Wu gown and Kindra Mann smoky eye.
No wonder she and the rest of the This Is Us cast went home with the Actor award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, because that pony. Brought. The. Drama.
