Watch Sophie Turner & Jonathan Van Ness Fangirl After Meeting for the First Time

If we were to meet Sophie Turner in the wild, there would be a whole lot of screaming, jumping and unnecessary Game of Thrones references. Well, that’s exactly what happened when Jonathan Van Ness came face-to-face with the actress for the first time at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards.

Entertainment Tonight recently shared a behind-the-scenes clip on Twitter, featuring the moment the GoT star unexpectedly ran into the Queer Eye queen while backstage at the VMAs.

In the clip, Van Ness spots Turner from afar and immediately goes into fangirl mode. As they walk toward each other in slow motion, they scream in unison before gushing over one another.

“You don’t know my name,” Van Ness shrieks. “I love you so much. Oh, my God.”

After Turner confirms she does, in fact, know his name, she goes in for the hug. The Queer Eye star proceeds to reference the actress’s character in Game of Thrones, claiming he is “so happy for your ending.” (Sansa Stark FTW.)

Turner thanks him for his kindness before returning the favor, calling him “incredible.” The video concludes with another candid meet-cute: “You have to meet Joe [Jonas],” Sophie says.

During the VMAs, Van Ness presented the award for Video for Good to Taylor Swift’s “You Need to Calm Down.” Turner’s attendance was solely to support her husband and his band, the Jonas Brothers, who took home Pop Video of the Year for “Sucker.”

Hey, at least the fangirl feeling is mutual.
