Sophie Turner Pulled an Early 2000s and Wore Jeans on the ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ Red Carpet
The year? 2001. The event? The American Music Awards. The culprits? Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, who wore a zip-up bustier denim dress and full denim tuxedo, respectively. 18 years ago, this was fine. Flash-forward to today, and none other than X-Men: Dark Phoenix star Sophie Turner is giving us early aughts flashbacks with her red carpet ensemble.
Granted, she didn't wear head-to-toe denim by any means. But the former Game of Thrones actor (Sansa 4ever), 23, hit the red carpet for an X-Men fan event in a pair of jeans that has us feeling very nostalgic.
She paired her extremely high-waisted, tapered jeans with a Louis Vuitton crop top (as one does) and black sling-back heels with silver pointed toes. Oversize silver hoop earrings and an ultra-high ponytail finished the look. Like we said, it's a far cry from the red carpet crop tops and jeans of yesteryear...and that's kinda why we love it.
While Turner is already moving on to other projects (with Dark Phoenix releasing on June 7), she recently posted a farewell to her GoT character, saying, “Sansa, Thank you for teaching me resilience, bravery and what true strength really is.” We feel like Sansa would wear high-waisted jeans and a crop top on the red carpet, too.
