It’s official: Simone Biles is back.

Over the weekend, the 26-year-old Olympian returned to competitive gymnastics for the first time in two years. Biles competed in the Core Hydration U.S. Classic, where she won gold medals for vault, floor and balance beam. (She also placed third in the uneven bars event.) As a result, she has qualified for the National Championship.

Biles celebrated the exciting news on her personal Instagram account and shared a candid photo of herself fist bumping the air. The caption read, “Tears of joy as I make this comeback, surrounded by the love you’ve shown! thank you for believing in me.”

Fans and followers left words of praise in the comments section. This included her husband, Jonathan Owens, who wrote: “So damn proud of you baby. Makes my day seeing you so happy and back doing what you love and having FUN!!! I love you so much.”

The Core Hydration U.S. Classic was Biles’s first step on her journey to the 2024 Olympics in Paris. The competition marked her first meet since the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo, where she withdrew from multiple events after experiencing the “twisties.”

Back in July, the athlete announced that she was officially returning to gymnastics and competing in the 2023 U.S. Classic. “Sorry I’ve been a little MIA since the announcement,” she wrote on Twitter. “I’m overwhelmed with all of your messages, support & love! excited to get back out on the competition floor! XOXO.”

Welcome back, Simone.
