Simone Biles Posts Photos of Emotional Reunion with Her Family in Houston

Simone Biles is officially home from the Tokyo Olympics and she’s enjoying some much-needed time with her family.

On Thursday, the 24-year-old champion arrived back in Texas and documented the reunion with her parents. “Houston, I’m home,” she captioned a slideshow on Instagram. “Thanks for making sure I didn’t have to wait one more minute to see my family @united.”

The first photo features Biles hugging her father at the airport, while the second shows the gymnast embracing her mom while a group of people wave American flags in the background.

The post comes days after the gold-medalist competed in the fifth (and final) individual event for gymnastics at the Games—the balance beam final. And after a difficult few weeks, Biles managed to earn herself a bronze medal with a score of 14.000.

The exciting win followed her exit from the team final and a handful of individual floor events to focus on her mental health after experiencing the “twisties”, which is a mental phenomenon that results in a gymnast no longer being able to perform a trick (or tricks).

And that wasn’t the only struggle Biles faced recently. During a press conference after receiving her medal, Biles told reporters about the loss of her aunt on her father's side.

“At the end of the day, people don't understand what we are going through," Biles said per CBS News. "Two days ago, I woke up and my aunt unexpectedly passed, and it wasn't any easier being here at the Olympic Games."

Looks like this family reunion couldn’t have come at a better time.
