Where Is Sarah Ferguson? Why the Duchess of York Was Absent from the Coronation Ceremony

The royal family gathered today to celebrate King Charles III's coronation, but while we spotted many familiar faces (including Prince Harry—who flew in from California), there was one notable royal we didn't see: Sarah Ferguson.

As it turns out, the Duchess of York did not receive an invitation to the official coronation, but this is more a result of tradition rather than a slight against the bestselling novelist. Last month, the duchess appeared on the talk show Loose Women, where she revealed that she likely wouldn't be invited to the religious ceremony, due to her divorce from Prince Andrew.

In reference to Prince Andrew (who was at the coronation), Ferguson said, “Remember, I am divorced from him. I don’t expect—you can't have it both ways. You can't be divorced and then say, ‘I want this.’ You’re in or you’re out.”

However, the Duchess of York didn't seem to have any hard feelings about not being invited. In the weeks leading up to today's grand event, she had added, “I personally will be having a little tearoom and coronation chicken sandwich and putting out the bunting, that’s what I'm going to be doing. Because that would make me very happy...I also love to watch it on the telly because you hear a lot on the telly. The commentators are always good. And then all the family come back.”

However, fans of Ferguson shouldn't fret, because she *was* invited to the coronation concert, and it is believed she will be in attendance at that event tomorrow.

Meanwhile, despite being absent from the coronation, the Duchess of York told the newscasters at Good Morning Britain that she would still be there “in private.” She added, “That's a lovely feeling to be part of, it really is.”

We missed you today, Sarah, but we can't wait to see you rocking out at the concert.
