“Ladd had a surprise birthday party for me last night. I was truly surprised,” Drummond began her caption.
She went on to explain that her husband invited important people from all different arenas of her life: “My sister was there from Seattle, my closest high school friends came from San Diego, Dallas, Kansas City, and Atlanta, and my oldest/dearest childhood friends were there, too. Friends and family from Pawhuska showed up.”
But no surprise party for Ree Drummond would be complete without beautifully arranged comfort food. So Ladd enlisted the chefs from their Pioneer Woman Mercantile restaurant to pull out all the stops—and it worked. Drummond said she’d be “daydreaming about” the food they made for the rest of her life.
The Drummonds and their loved ones ended the evening around a fire pit “laughing so hard about old stories and memories that our ribs hurt.”
Although she “really wanted the whole birthday thing to blow over this year,” the Pioneer Woman says she was “so glad the little booger decided not to listen to me.”
Major props, Ladd.
