We already know that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will no longer use their HRH titles now that they’re stepping down as senior royals. Still, we can’t help but wonder what the transition means for other members of the family, particularly Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
Well, according to Robert Lacey (royal biographer and historical consultant for Netflix’s The Crown), the sisters might be asked to step up in their absence.
“It’s quite clear that one of the consequences is that Beatrice and Eugenie will now be brought forward—if they’re willing to be brought forward,” he told Hello! magazine. “If two go out, two have got to come in, and those two have got to be Beatrice and Eugenie.”
Lacey explained that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are the most obvious choice, since Prince William and Kate Middleton’s three children—Prince George (6), Princess Charlotte (4) and Prince Louis (1)—aren’t old enough to fulfill royal duties…at least not yet.
