Prince Harry Made a Major Dad Joke About Meghan Markle’s Baby Bump

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are still two months away from welcoming their first child, but the 34-year-old prince is already a pro at dad jokes.

The couple stepped out for the Endeavour Fund Awards at Drapers’ Hall in London yesterday and met with nominees, philanthropists and participants of the charity, which celebrates the achievements of wounded and injured servicemen on their way to rehabilitation.

While they worked the room, Harry was overheard making a Prince William–level dad joke. He reportedly said, “There’s a heavy baby in there!” referencing his 37-year-old wife’s baby bump. (Hey, the kiddo is almost to term.)

So how did Meghan Markle respond? She simply said, “He’s going to be the best dad.”

We’ll have to agree. The Duke of Sussex has been stepping up to the parenting plate as he and his wife await the arrival of their firstborn.

Back during their tour of Oceania last October, Prince Harry bestowed a nickname upon the bun in the oven and affectionately referred to him or her as “our little bump.” And just like his 36-year-old brother Prince William and his sister-in-law Kate Middleton, he’s been practicing crouching down to children’s eye levels as seen on his solo trip to Zambia in November. And although the couple hopes to keep the gender of their forthcoming child a secret, Harry did admit during an Invictus Games competition in Sydney in October that he’s keeping his fingers crossed for a girl.

Better keep testing out those dad jokes, Harry. You’re going to need them.
