Prince Charles has a passion for environmental causes—but he isn't the only one.

In a heartfelt essay about climate change, which was published as the cover story for Newsweek, the Prince of Wales opened up about its harmful effects and encouraged communities to work together to combat this crisis. In the piece, he explained, "That inspiring call to action remains prescient today, but in a different context and a different conflict—our battle against climate change to create a cleaner, safer and healthier planet for future generations."

Charles also highlighted his family's efforts and impact, making note of his late father Prince Philip's commitment to preserving nature and wildlife through the World Wildlife Fund. The royal also praised his sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, for doing their part in the fight against climate change.

Prince Charles wrote, "As a father, I am proud that my sons have recognized this threat. Most recently, my elder son, William, launched the prestigious Earthshot Prize to incentivize change and help repair our planet over the next ten years by identifying and investing in the technologies that can make a difference. And my younger son, Harry, has passionately highlighted the impact of climate change, especially in relation to Africa, and committed his charity to being net zero."

In case you missed it, Prince William launched the Earthshot Prize initiative in October 2020. And according to the official website, it aims to "turn the current pessimism surrounding environmental issues into optimism."

Meanwhile, in November 2021, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle pledged to make all of their business activities have a net-zero carbon footprint by 2030. In their official statement, they wrote, "While we have actively made choices to offset and balance this carbon footprint, now, with the tools provided by partner organizations, we know that we can all do better."

Aside from discussing his family's history of tackling environmental challenges, Prince Charles also urged his readers to join the battle against climate change. Towards the end of his essay, he wrote, "The time is now. The eyes of our children and grandchildren are judging us. Let ours be the generation that can. And does. As we enter a new year, there is not a moment to lose."

We're right behind you, Prince Charles.
