There’s a New Poster for ‘Once Upon a Time in …and Are We the Only Ones Who Noticed This?

It feels like we’ve been waiting a lifetime, but the premiere of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is finally almost here. And to reward us for being so patient, Warner Bros. has dropped a brand-new poster for Quentin Tarantino's buzzy new film.

Our observations: First, we’re loving the retro vibe. (The movie does take place in 1969, after all.) Brad Pitt (Cliff Booth), Leonardo DiCaprio (Rick Dalton) and Margot Robbie (Sharon Tate) take center stage, as expected, but there’s a bunch of subtle stuff going on in this poster that we missed upon first viewing.

For starters, who are the women walking behind a dancing Robbie in the center? Are they just random women, or could they possibly be the Manson Girls? We also spotted Kurt Russell (Rick) on the right-hand side of the poster, looking like a badass. And is that Mike Moh (Bruce Lee) delivering one of Lee’s signature kicks to Russell’s left?

Farther left, we’re spotting late actor Luke Perry (who portrayed Wayne Maunder before his untimely death) pointing a gun, and Damian Lewis striking a pose as Steve McQueen just above him. In short, this whole thing is like one big Where’s Waldo? poster. And to borrow some classic ’60s vernacular, we dig it.

The poster’s Instagram caption simply reads, “This summer, Hollywood awaits.”

Emile Hirsch, who plays Jay Sebring in the film, put it best, commenting, “Well, that hit the spot,” with a heart and clapping emoji,” on the post.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood hits theaters on Friday, July 26.
