NBC Might Reboot ‘The Office’ for Their New Streaming Service (and Everybody Needs to Stay Calm)

the office

Oh, my God. OK, it's (maybe) happening!

NBC is looking to reboot The Office on their streaming service Peacock, and we have a ton of questions. The surprising announcement comes days after NBC revealed three reboots (Saved By the Bell, Punky Brewster and Battlestar Galactica) were in the works. Adding another popular show to the roster wouldn't be at all shocking.

It's no secret that The Office is one of NBC's biggest shows and one of the most popular streaming series on Netflix. It's such a hot commodity that NBC paid more than $500 million to own all the rights and move it to Peacock

"We will be looking at all of them down the road and see what makes the most sense," Bonnie Hammer, chairman of direct-to-consumer and digital enterprises at NBC, told Deadline about future reboots. "When we see what the usage is on the service, if something is popping, and it's ours, you better believe that we are going to be looking at it as a new original."

NBC has been discussing this potential revival for years (after the success of Will & Grace), but after announcing their streaming service and buying back The Office, the idea just might come true sooner than later.

"It is my hope and goal that we do an Office reboot," Hammer expressed to Deadline.

With no information on the next steps (or who would be a part of the cast), we'll just have to settle for watching reruns of The Office in the meantime.
