The Most Googled ‘Game of Thrones’ Character Might Surprise You

If you’re like us, then your Google search history is riddled with endless questions about Game of Thrones. When does season eight premiere? Who will take the Iron Throne? And, most importantly, how does Melisandre look so damn young? All this Googling made us wonder, who’s the most popular Game of Thrones character? Well, the answer will probably surprise you.

According to Google search data, the most searched GoT character is—drumroll, please—Jon Snow (Kit Harington). Sure, he’s basically the bae of Thrones, but it’s still surprising. Honestly, we were expecting Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) to come in at number one.

Instead, Dany took the number two slot in terms of all search traffic, but in many states she actually was the belle of the ball Google search. Out of our 50 nifty United States, Dany was the most searched character in 12 of them. Jon Snow took the rest.

Following our star-crossed (and related) lovers was Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) in the number three spot. She’s definitely a fan favorite, but the fourth most Googled character was more of a dark horse. Coming in at number four was Gregor Clegane (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson).

Who’s that? You might know him as “The Mountain that Rides” or, more simply, “The Mountain.” He’s Cersei Lannister’s (Lena Headey) totally lethal and completely terrifying guard who has zero problem raping, pillaging and killing little kids. So why is he one of the most asked about characters? No idea, but the actor who plays him is currently known as the strongest man in the world, so it could have something to do with that.

Rounding out the top five is Lady of Winterfell, Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner).

Color us all sorts of surprised.
