June 1 marks the beginning of Pride Month around the world, and the Sussexes are celebrating in true royal fashion.
To honor the occasion, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Instagram account, @SussexRoyal, posted a tribute to the LGBTQ+ community. Their photo collage also featured a picture of Harry's late mother, Princess Diana, as she was "meeting one of the patients at AIDS hospice London Lighthouse," per Harper's Bazaar UK.
"The historic image was taken in October 1996, less than a year before her death, and demonstrates how the late royal used her global platform to challenge the social stigma surrounding HIV and AIDS," Bazaar UK notes.
The caption goes on to explain the change in the accounts that @SussexRoyal follows. A month ago, Meghan and Harry unfollowed everyone except for a handful of accounts that highlight mental health awareness and charities geared toward mental health month for May. The royal couple is sticking to the same plan for June, and is now following only 11 accounts that focus on the LGBTQ+ community, AIDS awareness and human rights.
In the caption, Meghan and Harry's account wrote: "We stand with you and support you," about the charities they chose to "proudly" spotlight this month, showing off their expert emoji skills by adding a little rainbow emoji.
"Because it’s very simple: love is love," the caption concluded.
