Stop the royal presses! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just unveiled their new official Instagram account (now that they’ve separated households from Prince William and Kate Middleton), and they made the announcement by revealing a never-before-seen photo.
On @SussexRoyal, the official interlaced H/M monogram in navy and white can be seen as the profile picture and as the first slide of the Instagram post announcing their new account. The second and third slides show the Sussexes on different royal engagements (one in their namesake Sussex county and one in Sydney during the royal tour of Oceania), while the fourth shows an image of schoolchildren holding signs welcoming the royal couple.
Then we get two solo shots: one of Prince Harry meeting personnel in the Arctic Circle and one of Markle hugging two women (possibly through her work with the Hubb Community Kitchen). Then two more solo shots, one of Harry doing elephant conservation work in Africa, and one of Markle in Australia wearing her striped Reformation dress. There’s another image of four young girls (one holding a Moroccan flag), most likely from the couple’s royal visit to Morocco in late February.
Finally, we get an entirely new shot that we’ve never seen before (and we sorta know our stuff)…Markle and Prince Harry with their backs to the camera, waving to the crowds down below and looking like president and first lady (or man) standing on the balcony of the Grand Pacific Hotel in Fiji. We. Have. Chills.
The post is captioned, “‘Welcome to our official Instagram; we look forward to sharing the work that drives us, the causes we support, important announcements, and the opportunity to shine a light on key issues. We thank you for your support, and welcome you to @sussexroyal.’- Harry & Meghan”
Last month, we saw the breakup of the Fab Four's offices (and soon to be households, as well), as Harry and Meghan moved their royal offices to Buckingham Palace away from their previously joint office with William and Kate at Kensington Palace.
Markle and Harry will soon move out of Kensington Palace (which they shared with Kate and Will) and into Frogmore Cottage in Windsor. They’ll get their own staff, and they’ll have their own offices near the queen’s royal offices in BP. They’ll also get their own communications team, which will report directly to the queen’s communications director, and all this in order to prep for Prince William one day being king.
Back in mid-March, we predicted Harry and Markle would most likely get their own Instagram and Twitter accounts, seeing as they are no longer operating (nor living) under the Kensington Palace roof. Although we got the handle wrong (sorry, @frogmorecottage), we did get a few gorgeous (and very official-looking) pictures of Meghan and Harry.
Fingers crossed for all the Baby Sussex IG updates (Hey, a girl can dream).
