Meghan Markle Sent a Voicemail to Her Pen Pal, but It Was Prince Harry Who Delivered the Message

Spreading Awareness wasn’t Prince Harry’s only mission during his recent outing for World Mental Health Day. In fact, the Duke of Sussex, 35, was tasked with passing along a voice message to Meghan Markle’s longtime pen pal.

Yesterday, Prince Harry visited the Nottingham Academy and chatted with a student named Aleyna Genc. Since the 14-year-old has written to and received (!!!) letters from the Duchess of Sussex for the past two years, the duke sought her out and relayed a special voicemail that Markle had recorded on his phone.

“I have been sending Meghan letters for around two years now and she sent me a voice note, which I got to listen to on Harry’s phone,” Genc told Nottingham Post. “She basically wished me well.”

Genc first contacted Markle after the duchess gave her speech at the UN in 2015. She explained that Markle helped her get through some of the toughest times in her life, including battling a brain tumor during her childhood.

“I wanted to tell her that she had inspired me and so I sent her a letter. We have been sending letters back and forth ever since then,” she said.

During her interaction with Prince Harry, Genc listened to the message and then gave him a toy dog for his son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. (Picture above.)

“He said thank you and that he loved it,” she added. “He said he would love it because he hasn’t been able to sleep because of Archie for the past few days.”

Luckiest. Pen pal. Ever.
