Since welcoming her first child with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle has kept busy. While on maternity leave, she casually guest edited the September issue of British Vogue, announced her forthcoming fashion capsule collection, set up her new Sussex Royal foundation, met Beyoncé and, of course, cared for little Archie. Now, three months after her son’s birth, the 38-year-old Duchess of Sussex is getting back into the swing of things and returning to work.
Today, the palace announced Markle’s first post-maternity-leave function and it’s truly right around the corner. The duchess will attend a launch event for her new Smart Works capsule collection next Thursday, September 12. (Smart Works is a foundation aimed at dressing and coaching unemployed women for career success and Markle is its patron.)
According to The Sun’s royal reporter Emily Andrews, “Duchess Meghan will launch her new clothes line, in collaboration with Jigsaw, John Lewis and Partners, Marks and Spencer & pal Misha Nonoo, next Thursday 12 Sept to support her patronage Smart Works. Very excited to see what she’s picked for her capsule working wardrobe!”
But Markle won’t just be attending, she’ll also be delivering a short speech ahead of the panel, which includes Smart Works representatives and two of its clients. She’ll then meet brand reps from Smart Works who will walk her through the journey that a client undergoes, from how they select their interview wardrobe from the charity’s selection of donated goods to what their interview process is like.
