Mandy Moore Follows Up with ‘Good News’ After ‘This Is Us’ Is Revealed to Be Over for 2020

Just days after we learned the bad news that This Is Us is dunzo for 2020, Mandy Moore is showing us a light at the end of the tunnel.

Last week, it was revealed that although the hit NBC show just aired season five, episode four, it isn’t scheduled to return with more Pearson drama until 2021. As you can imagine, fans were confused and annoyed, to say the least. (Especially since the network provided zero explanation.)

Moore was quick to address the news on her Instagram Story. The actress went on to explain why the show is taking an unexpected hiatus, stating, “I’ve seen online that folks were a bit bummed out about that—I appreciate that, we all appreciate that you’re bummed out. But we just started production back, and it has been such a break-neck pace.”

She continued, “I believe I saw on Twitter tonight that [series creator Dan Fogelman] said our post team literally just locked in tonight’s episode last night. So, we have to get caught up. We are literally in the middle of filming, almost at the end of filming, the fifth episode, which would be airing next week. So, we need to catch up. So, we’ll see you in January.”

And now, it looks like she’s providing fans with even more insight to help them deal. Over the weekend, the 36-year-old actress shared a release date for the series to return.

“Leave it to @sullivangrams to help brighten up our day with some good news!! The Pearsons are coming back atcha 1/5! #ThisIsUs,” she captioned the post. Yup. January 5th.

So, while we’re still not thrilled that NBC is going to be keeping us waiting, at least we have a date so we can plan our alternate viewing schedule accordingly.
