Lizzo Totally Supports the Idea of Starring Alongside Chris Evans in the New ‘Bodyguard’ Remake

First, it was A Star Is Born. Now, another classic musician-centered movie is getting remade.

Variety just reported that the 1992 drama The Bodyguard is getting a reboot courtesy of Warner Bros., and Tony-nominated playwright Matthew López (The Inheritance) has already signed on to write the reimagining.

While there has been no official casting announcement, the internet has been buzzing with predictions about who will fill the roles formerly played by Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner. (Though some believe the Hollywood classic should be left alone.)

But as Variety stated, combos ranging from Channing Tatum and Cardi B to Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson have been proposed. Syma Chowdhry had a totally different idea, saying, “Hear me out…. The remake stars @Lizzo & @ChrisEvans. That’s my pick! What about you?”

Lizzo apparently agreed with the suggestion, given that she retweeted Chowdhry's message and also shared the idea to her TikTok account.

In the clip, Lizzo shows the original tweet from Variety announcing The Bodyguard remake, and then she shows Chowdhry's tweet, along with a user's response that featured pictures of the singer and Evans side by side. In the caption of her clip, Lizzo said, “What y’all think?”

Fans definitely seemed on board, with one person commenting, “I would rob a bank to pay for this to happen.” Another wrote, “A remake that would be worth it.” While some seemed hesitant about a redo of the classic, this pairing seemed to change their minds: “I went from 'please god no' to 'lord I am begging you' REAL QUICK.”

Based on the pair's history, we would love to see them work together. We'll be keeping our fingers crossed.
