Kerry Washington Has a *Very* Big Announcement

Kerry Washington has starred in some of our favorite television shows and movies over the years, like Scandal and The School for Good and Evil. But now, the actress and director has taken on another creative project. 

On Instagram, the 46-year-old actress shared a video of herself reenacting the popular “I’m not gonna do it girl” trend from TikTok. In the middle of the clip, the Little Fires Everywhere star showed an exclusive report from People magazine, revealing that she’s releasing her first-ever memoir, Thicker Than Water, this fall.

The caption read, “I did it. I wrote a book [shocked emoji]. #ThickerThanWater comes out on September 26th. Link in bio to preorder now!”

As it turns out, Washington made the big announcement on the same day as her 46th birthday. So, many of her celebrity friends shared a combination of congratulatory and birthday messages in the comments section. 

Reese Witherspoon, who also starred in Little Fires Everywhere, wrote, “Oh my gosh!!! I'm so excited!” Orange Is the New Black alum Uzo Aduba commented, “Ooooo! Can’t wait and Happy Birthday!!!!” with a bunch of party emojis. And Billy Porter said, “Happy Birthday and congrats!!”
