Kensington Palace Celebrates Queen Elizabeth’s Anniversary with Rare Photo from Her Honeymoon

It’s a big day for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. The couple is celebrating 72 years of marriage, and the official @KensingtonRoyal Instagram account is honoring the occasion with a social media tribute.

The account opted to include two photos in their post. First, a black-and-white shot from the couple’s post-wedding honeymoon appearance, followed by a photo of Her Majesty and Philip more recently, smiling at a royal engagement.

“Wishing Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh a very happy 72nd Wedding Anniversary!” the caption read.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, aka Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, also shared an old photograph of the couple. We sense a theme here.

Although it is Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s anniversary, the duo will be spending it apart. Philip, 98, is currently at Sandringham, Norfolk, while her Majesty is in London for a week of royal engagements.

This isn’t uncommon. Last year the royal couple also spent their special day in different locations. The monarch made a solo appearance at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in London and while we aren’t positive where Phillip was, we’re sure it was important.

Happy anniversary, you two!
