Kensington Palace Posts Rare Throwback Pic of Diana, William and Harry for U.K. Mother’s Day

Prince William is (of course) honoring his mom, Princess Diana, this Mother’s Day.

In honor of the U.K. holiday, which took place on March 22 this year, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared a personal slideshow on Sunday, which featured a handful of photos close to the couple’s hearts. The four photos included a never-before-seen photo of Kate and her family, a shot of Middleton as a baby with her mother Carole, a piece of artwork given to Middleton by Prince George and a throwback of Princess Diana with Prince William and Prince Harry.

In the throwback photo, the Princess of Wales sits with her arm around Harry as William hugs sweetly from behind. See the post below and scroll to the second photo.

“To mothers new and old and families spending today together and apart – we are thinking of you all at this difficult time. Happy Mother’s Day,” part of the Instagram caption read.

Prince William isn’t the only one who paid tribute to Diana this month. Meghan Markle used her last official royal engagement to honor her mother-in-law, with an all-green ensemble that closely resembled one of Diana’s. In 1982, the Princess of Wales donned a green textured shirt dress and matching fascinator decorated with netting to attend the Trooping the Colour ceremony on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. Like mother-in-law, like daughter-in-law.

We love a good walk down memory lane.
