Kelly Ripa Uses ‘Kitchen Scissors’ to Cut Her Son’s Hair on Live Television

Kelly Ripa is using her time in quarantine to bond with her family, and she just cut her son’s hair on live television to prove it—what's a better trust exercise than letting your mom chop your hair off?

On Thursday, the 49-year-old Live with Kelly and Ryan co-host used her 22-year-old son, Michael, to demonstrate some at-home haircutting tips.

Instructed by Barba Men’s Grooming Boutique founder, Xavier Cruz, Ripa broke out her grooming tools. “I have scissors. Kitchen scissors,” Ripa revealed. During the demonstration, the mother of three clipped away at her son’s ends and used colorful barrettes to hold his hair back. Not to mention, she looked like she had a blast doing it. And while we’re on the topic on Consuelos men and their hair, Ripa's hubby, Mark Consuelos, also recently debuted a new style. Well, some new facial hair, that is, while filling in for Ryan Seacrest on the talk show. Of course, his new controversial “#markstache” (Kelly’s words, not ours) was the topic of much conversation.

“I can take it or leave it, I like it both ways,” Ripa said during the show. And while his wife (being the supportive woman she is) is all for the ’stache, the couple’s three kids, including Michael, are not so much on board. “They say I look like an aging porn star,” Consuelos revealed. Hopefully, he’s more supportive of his son’s new ’do.
