Just because Meghan Markle is married to Prince Harry doesn’t mean everyone knows her name—we’re looking at you, Kelly Clarkson.
The 37-year-old singer appeared on a recent episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she played a super telling game of “Hot Hands.” Basically, the idea of the segment is that Clarkson has to name a series of celebrities by photo and then come up with a hypothetical question she’d like to ask the person.
In the clip, Clarkson correctly identifies several celebs—like Justin Timberlake, Chris Hemsworth, Drake, Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Lopez, who is defying the laws of aging, according to the “Since U Been Gone” singer.
“I would ask how on earth she gets that body at any age and still maintains it,” Clarkson jokes. “I hate her.”
However, things take an awkward turn when DeGeneres displays a photo of Markle, and Clarkson responds with a wide-eyed look. “I know this one, she’s a princess,” she says.
The problem? Clarkson can’t remember the duchess’s name, which prompts the talk show host to remind her, whispering, “Meghan Markle.”
“Oh, she was on Suits,” Clarkson continues. “Actually, I love Suits. I don’t know why she doesn’t look like a Meghan to me. Maybe I’ll ask her that.” That’s probably because Markle’s real name isn’t Meghan—it’s Rachel.
Names aside, Clarkson goes on to suggest a more serious alternative, adding, “I would ask, ‘What are the stresses of being a princess?’”
Maybe the singer will invite Markle to be a guest on The Kelly Clarkson Show? *Crosses fingers*
