Katy Perry Debuts Ultra Short Bangs on ‘American Idol’ & She Looks So Different

Katy Perry has had quite the hair evolution over the years. So far, the 38-year-old singer has pulled off dozens of bold 'dos, from blue curls and unicorn-inspired ponytails to pink bobs. But now, the songstress is re-introducing a popular hair trend from the early aughts.

Before you ask—no, we're not talking about hair clips or bubble braids. This time, Perry is bringing back the micro bangs, otherwise known as baby bangs, which fall just a few inches from the forehead. On Instagram, the "Firework" singer shared a few behind-the-scenes clips from American Idol, and we couldn't help but feel a bit nostalgic when we spotted her dark, choppy bangs.

Perry's hairstylist, Peter Lux, offered a closer look at the judge's fancy updo and wrote, "Baby bangs and hair tassels for this gorgeous lady @katyperry." Meanwhile, several fans took to the comments to compliment her new look. One fan said, "This fringe is giving me Courtney Cox in Scream vibes!!" Another fan wrote, "Omg you look so different!"

Of course, we can't forget about Perry's flattering ensemble. The singer shared footage of herself stepping out of her trailer in a Rick Owens Prong Iridescent Strapless Gown, and it's definitely giving mermaid vibes.
