Kate Middleton Will Attend Her Next Royal Event Solo & Here’s Why

Kate Middleton is going stag to her next royal outing, and we’re already looking forward to seeing the pics of her (probably) bold outfit.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 37, will attend a reception for NATO leaders at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, December 3, according to Hello! magazine.

While several members of the royal family will be present, Middleton will arrive at the event solo, since her husband, Prince William, will be out of town. (The Duke of Cambridge, also 37, is set to visit Kuwait and Oman in early December, which conflicts with the NATO event.)

In London, Middleton will be joined by her father-in-law, Prince Charles, and Camilla Parker Bowles. Other attendees will include Prince Edward (Earl of Wessex), Princess Anne (the Princess Royal), Prince Richard (Duke of Gloucester), Birgitte van Deurs (Duchess of Gloucester) and Princess Alexandra (The Honourable Lady Ogilvy).

The reception holds a special place in the royal family’s hearts. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (commonly known as NATO) was originally established in 1949 by 12 founding members. Not only was the U.K. one of those parties, but London was also home to the very first NATO headquarters.

The organization is currently aligned with 29 countries. Queen Elizabeth will host the gathering at Buckingham Palace, which will recognize dedicated NATO individuals.

Thank you, Middleton, for proving you don’t need a plus-one to have a good time.
