Kate Middleton just confirmed what we all saw coming: The royal family’s “no selfie” rule is no longer enforced.
This week, Princess Catherine traveled to Leeds to promote her new campaign, Shaping Us, which supports early childhood development. While there, the royal visited the Leeds Kirkgate Market and chatted with vendors about her initiative. The Princess of Wales also proved that the royal family’s “no selfie” rule doesn’t apply anymore. (Well, at least to her.)
At one point, a man in the crowd called out to the princess and asked to take a selfie. Much to our delight, the video was shared on Twitter by Cameron Walker of GB News (see above).
When Princess Catherine approached the man, he said, “I’m sorry. I’m really nervous.” To which she responded: “Please don’t worry. It’s OK. We all get nervous.” *Snaps photo*
The fan photo is considered a big deal because there’s an unwritten royal rule that prohibits the family from taking selfies while on duty. Princess Catherine has ignored the tradition on multiple occasions, like when she was approached by a group of women at the Foxcubs Nursery in Luton. But for this latest instance, she could have turned down the selfie…but she didn’t.
During her visit to Leeds, the Princess of Wales wore a green double-breasted coat. She paired the jacket with a cream-colored sweater, black boots and a matching green purse.
