Kate Middleton & Prince William Just Paid Tribute to Prince Philip During Their Drive-in Movie Date

Looks like we aren’t the only ones excited for the release of Disney’s Cruella. Kate Middleton and Prince William recently attended a drive-in screening of the new film and put a ton of thought into the car they took to the theater.

On Wednesday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge continued their royal tour of Scotland by hosting NHS staff for a special screening at the Palace of Holyroodhouse—the official residence of Queen Elizabeth. Lucky for us, the royal couple shared photos and videos from the event on their joint Instagram account.

“Good evening everyone and welcome to this special screening of Disney's Cruella—here at the Palace of Holyroodhouse," Middleton said during a quick speech at the screening. “As Joint Patrons of NHS Charites Together, William and I are absolutely delighted that so many of you could join us here tonight. We wanted to thank you for the extraordinary dedication, commitment and personal sacrifice you have shown in supporting our communities through this pandemic.”

To attend the event, the royal couple got permission from Her Majesty to borrow a Land Rover that was once owned by the late Prince Philip. Per the Royal Family IG account, the Land Rover, which was made in 1966, is a Series 2A and was used by the Duke of Edinburgh for “many years.”

In fact, this type of car held such a special meaning to Philip that during his funeral procession back in April, his coffin was carried by a military-style Land Rover (which was designed by the duke himself).

A special date night honoring frontline workers with a hidden tribute to William’s grandfather? What a sweet idea.
